1. Get Motivated! What Can Motivate Me? I Need\u00a0God’s Word!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Psalm 1
\n<\/span><\/span>1 How blessed is the man who\u00a0does not walk in the\u00a0counsel of the wicked,<\/span><\/span>
\nNor stand in the\u00a0path of sinners,<\/span>
\nNor\u00a0sit in the seat of scoffers!<\/span>
\n2\u00a0<\/span>But his\u00a0delight is\u00a0in the law of the\u00a0Lord<\/span>,<\/span><\/span>
\nAnd in His law he meditates\u00a0day and\u00a0night.<\/span><\/span>
\n3\u00a0<\/span>He will be like\u00a0a tree\u00a0firmly<\/i>\u00a0planted by\u00a0streams of water,<\/span>
\nWhich yields its fruit in its season<\/span>
\nAnd its\u00a0leaf does not wither;<\/span>
\nAnd\u00a0in whatever he does,\u00a0he prospers.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

4\u00a0<\/span>The wicked are not so,<\/span>
\nBut they are like\u00a0chaff which the wind drives away.<\/span>
\n5\u00a0<\/span>Therefore\u00a0the wicked will not stand in the\u00a0judgment,<\/span>
\nNor sinners in\u00a0the assembly of the righteous.<\/span>
\n6\u00a0<\/span>For the\u00a0Lord<\/span>\u00a0knows the way of the righteous,<\/span>
\nBut the way of\u00a0the wicked will perish.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Matthew 4

2. Pick a Good Translation and Select Some Verses or Chapters to Memorize<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

3. Start to\u00a0Memorize<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

These seven habits are vital for successful Scripture memory.
\n1. Start early. Begin your memory work early in the day.
\n2. Carry your pack [or your collection of verses]. Keep your cards with you; review in free moments.
\n3. Learn topics and references. Always state the topic first, then the reference. Next, quote the verse and repeat the reference.
\n4. Maintain word perfection. Keeping your standards high will bolster your confidence.
\n5. Review all verses daily. For success review all memorized verses at least once each day six days a week.
\n6. Check out new verses. Be certain you have learned all new verses correctly. At week’s end write them out for yourself or quote them to a friend.
\n7. Overlearn your verses. At least 36 repetitions, once a day for six weeks, are necessary to give a verse sufficient overleaming to assure instant recall. After this they should be kept available for periodic review in order to keep them sharp.

4. Challenge\u00a0Someone Else Who Will Memorize<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b>The\u00a0Scripture Memory Challenge\u00a0from Stephen Simpson<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
Step 1<\/td>\n\n

Determine that you will assign yourself the task of committing a small portion of God’s Word to memory each and every day.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Step 2<\/td>\nMake it a goal to teach and encourage at least one other person each year to make Scripture memorization a part of their lives too.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Step 3<\/td>\nAs you teach others to memorize Scripture, prepare them for the day when they too can encourage others to memorize, and so create an ever-increasing network of those who memorize God’s Word.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
